Day 1: beginnings

Hey there random people of the internets. My name is Dave, and I am starting this blog for a very specific intention. That being as an add on to a medical study I am currently a part of. As part of the study, we are encouraged to keep a daily log of events as it pertains to the study, and I have been itching to start up a daily blog of my own, so hey, you know what they say about birds and stones.

The study I am a part of is mostly confidential, but I can tell you that it is a study on the effect of immuno boosting drugs (all the drugs are kept confidential) on patients from normal physical condition to those with rampant birth defects that might be cured by the drug. I would be a member of the latter. Reason for that is, I don't sleep. EVER. never have, probably never will. it's not insomnia, because I never feel tired or drowsy. even the worst insomniacs need to sleep every once in awhile. I just don't need to and can't even if I wanted to. Many a doctor have been fascinated, but me and my family have only trusted one doctor to try and find a cure (less of a concern now than when I was 2 and my parents had to sleep in shifts for fear I would destroy the house if they slept at the same time) but also to make sure I was maintaining psychological health (major concern there).

His name is Dr. Henry (yes, that's a fake name, I'm not going to give out his real name and risk people finding him and me and the harassment being never ending) and I would trust him till the ends of the earth, I mean I have seen the guy ever other week for the majority of my life. He was the one to suggest I enter this particular study to see if it can help at all with the side effects of my condition (no sleep means no recuperation time, so I tend to get sick far more often due to fatigue more than anything else) and, if we have any luck, my actual condition.

For the time being, I am an animation student and the ridiculous amount of time I have on my hands means i can finish my assignment days before it's due date (which rules). I am absolutely infatuated with computer games and can't wait SC2 to come out in a few days, and I love to see the occasional flick at the local theater. I work the overnight shift at a local restaurant as a dishwasher (full time with good pay), and am paying my way through school (no loans, harder than it looks). I have to report to the hospital every MWF for the study (so I guess I am actually posting on day 2... oh well) and am more than ready to see the results (if any) of this study (hope I ain't got placebos).

yes there are ads, I am a poor college kid, and though i doubt this will make me any money, if it does, i'll use it to buy a pizza or something :D. Oh, and I will update this daily (duh) so check back everyday (unless I say otherwise).

Oh and Study Log: No notice of change, though a bit nauseous after taking pill (as was told would happen), no change to sleep pattern or to body fatigue.
